American actress Mira Sorvino has earned both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her participation in the film Mighty Aphrodite in 1995. She made a few television works in the early 1990s, and only after three years, she got her first film job in the independent gangster movie Amongst Friends in 1993. Her acting performance charmed the public and created some buzz, which led her to be cast in two other films.
