IMAN – 64 YEARS OLD

For Iman, education was everything. She did not expect that the one thing she did to pay for her tuition fees would turn out to be her lifelong career. She started to accept modeling opportunities so she could see herself through school. She studied political science at the University of Nairobi, but did not get her degree. Once she was discovered, she focused on modeling and eventually became one of the top models in the world.

Iman became a sought-out fashion model, appearing on the cover of different magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar and serving as a muse to luxury designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, and Gianni Versace. YSL even dedicated a whole African Queen collection to her. Iman is a wise woman with so much grit and determination. While modeling, she also ventured to do a business of her own: a namesake cosmetic line which she shared with her late husband, David Bowie. Her cosmetic line helped her to empower women of all colors and ages.
